About the Department:
The Department of Textiles and Apparel Designing of College of Community Science has integrated theoretical and practical teaching approaches to give students the skills they need for a wide range of jobsin the private, public and government sector. Since the inception of the College in 2019, the courses of the discipline have been an integral part of the Undergraduate Programme.The department curriculum is designed to keep pace with the changing times. This has helped the department to work towards fulfilling its aim of Education for Progress.
Vision:
- To emerge as a global centre of excellence in teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied sciences in the country to ensure sustained healthy food, nutrition and livelihood security.
Mission:
- The university is committed to the cause of Indian agriculture through its quality teaching, demand-driven and location-specific research and extension programmes in the light of dynamism of socio-economic and agro ecological conditions, management perceptions, international trade scenarios and government policies.
Objectives:
- To equip students with professional education that aligns with the latest changing trends in the dynamic fields of garment construction, fashion, and textiles.
- To make the students aware of the diversity of textile products and develop textile knowledge in selecting, developing and evaluating products.
- To develop skill of product development through aesthetic and functional requirements, producibility, and market needs.
- To inculcate entrepreneurial skills and professional knowledge of textiles for diverse career options.

Department Activities:
- Exhibition “Abhivyakti- 2022” and “Abhivyakti- 2024” wereorganized on 26/12/2022 by Batch 2029 and on 15/05/2024 by batch 2020 respectively in Department under Student READY Programme (students designed, developed and displayed various garments, accessories, handicraft decorative under the courses of Module 1)
- Two 10 days “Skill DevelopmentWorkshop”were organized from 04/06/2022 to 13/06/2022 and 01/11/2023 to 10/11/2023
- Different Training programmes were organised on Rakhi Making, Tie and Dye, Textile Printing, Macrame Products and Jute Handicraft Items etc.
- Different Textile Display items like Macrame wall hangings, Key chains, Tie and Tie Dupatta, Printed Bedsheet, Cushion Covers, Traditional Paintings, Embroidered decorative articles made by students are displayed in Kisan mela every year
- Exposure Visit were conducted for students to widen the horizon of students for Textiles, rugs, carpets, home furnishings, hand spun yarn and hanloom fabric etc.to Hafiziaart and Crafts Pvt. Ltd., Sitapur and Vinoba Bhave GramodayaSansthan, Banda, U.P.
