College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology
About the College:
The College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology at Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda, UP, was established in 2024 to offer technical and professional education based on ICAR 6th Dean’s Committee curriculum. The college started the first batch of B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) programme in academic session 2024-2025, with intake capacity of 40 students. The college focuses to addressthe issue of shortage of trained manpower (human resource) in the disciplines of agricultural engineering besides other issues, pertaining to natural resource management, farm mechanization, post-harvest technology, processing & value addition, utilization of renewable sources of energy, creation of agro-industries etc. in the region.
Vision:
- To emerge as a global centre of excellence in teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied sciences in the country to ensure sustained healthy food, nutrition and livelihood security.
Mission:
- The university is committed to the cause of Indian agriculture through its quality teaching, demand-driven and location-specific research and extension programmes in the light of dynamism of socio-economic and agro ecological conditions, management perceptions, international trade scenarios and government policies.
Objectives:
- To equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to effectively apply engineering principles in agricultural engineering and its allied sectors.
- To integrate modern teaching methodologies, including video lectures and smart classrooms, to enhance students’ competencies and prepare them for industry challenges
- To develop and implement precision agriculture technologies integrating AI, ML, robotics, automation, and IoT for optimizing crop management, yield prediction, resource efficiency, and site-specific water application through smart irrigation systems.
- To organize international conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, and training programs in collaboration with professional societies and leading global universities to facilitate knowledge exchange and innovation.
Thrust Areas of Research:
- Sustainable Mechanization: Development and promotion of eco-friendly and energy-efficient farm machinery tailored to diverse agricultural needs.
- Smart Farming Technologies: Integration of advanced technologies such as GPS, IoT, AI, ML, robotics, and automation to optimize efficiency in crop production, resource management, and decision-making.
- Precision Irrigation and Drainage Systems: Advancements in precision irrigation, drainage management, and adaptation to climate change, focusing on watershed management and urban hydrology for sustainable water use.
- Renewable Energy in Agriculture: Research and development of sustainable energy solutions, including solar, wind, and bioenergy, to support agricultural operations and reduce carbon footprints.
- Soil and Water Conservation: Implementation of innovative techniques and practices for conserving soil and water resources, ensuring long-term sustainability and productivity.
