The Department of Family Resource Management, under the Faculty of Community Science started in the year2019. Family Resource Management is an interdisciplinary field that aims at improving the quality of life of families with focus on the individual, family and community at large. It includes the major field like Interior Design, Space Management, family economics, engineering, ergonomics, consumer education and various aspects of management to prepare students to be effective managers of the family and community,Occupational analyst, Interior designer and Consumer counsellor to a greater extent.The course is both relevant due to the changing needs of human beings with their environment.The department is designed to enable the students to develop professional competence for jobs in the private, public sector and to take up entrepreneurial ventures.
Vision
- To emerge as a global centre of excellence in teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied sciences in the country to ensure sustained healthy food, nutrition and livelihood security.
Mission
- The university is committed to the cause of Indian agriculture through its quality teaching, demand-driven and location-specific research and extension programmes in the light of dynamism of socio-economic and agro ecological conditions, management perceptions, international trade scenarios and government policies.
Objectives:
- To facilitate the understanding of family resources for individual growth and family satisfaction.
- To impart skill to assist in resource generation and allocationand knowledge of financial management and consumer education.
- To inculcate awareness about the ergonomic principles in relation to household, equipment and occupation.
- To develop entrepreneurial skill in management among students.
