College of Community Science is a constituent college of Banda University Agriculture & Technology and the college came into existence in the year 2019. Community Science is an interdisciplinary field of study having a scientific understanding of the community concerned and to improve the quality of life of individuals, family and people at large. The college of Home Science has been renamed as College of Community Science as there has been a Nation wise change of Nomenclature as per 5th Dean’s Committee recommendations after the approval of Academic Council meeting dated 17.12.2021 to widen the scope for employability of the graduates. In addition, the education makes the students capable in bringing positive impact on the community as a whole.It aims in promoting professional competence among students to meet challenges in life and will enable the students to pursue higher studies or to undertake gainful employment in various sectors. It has come a long way and fulfills the current and future needs of scientific education of both boys and girls.
Vision
To emerge as a global centre of excellence in teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied sciences in the country to ensure sustained healthy food, nutrition and livelihood security.
Mission
The university is committed to the cause of Indian agriculture through its quality teaching, demand-driven and location-specific research and extension programmes in the light of dynamism of socio-economic and agro ecological conditions, management perceptions, international trade scenarios and government policies.
Goal
- To create a class of professionals suitable for Government, Industries, Voluntary and Non voluntary Organizations.
- To promote economic and technological empowerment of students in community, farm and allied activities.
- To inculcate entrepreneurial skills among students to facilitate in the fields of Clothing and Textiles, Extension and Communication, Foods and Nutrition, Family Resource Management and Human Development and Family Studies.
- To develop interactive linkages with industries, government as well as non-government organizations.

The College of Community Science, established in 2019 at Banda University of Agriculture & Technology, Banda, is dedicated to prepare students with the essential professional skills and knowledge needed to excel in health, nutrition, textile sciences and fashion, resource management, human development and community based fields and extension services through its scientifically designed, multilateral and action oriented course curriculum. Initially known as the College of Home Science, it was renamed in 2022 following the recommendations of the ICAR, New Delhi. The College offers a four-year undergraduate program, B.Sc (Hons.) Community Science, focusing on a holistic approach to education. Its core mission is to promote cognitive and effective learning, facilitating the transfer of vital community science knowledge, skills and technologies to the professional world as well as to urban and rural families. The College also strives to enhance teaching, extension, and research collaborations to improve the quality of life for families at all societal levels, with a strong emphasis on fostering professionalism among its students.
The College comprises five specialized departments:Department of Food and Nutrition, Department of Textile and Apparel Designing, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Department of Family Resource Management and Consumer Science, Department of Extension Education and Communication Management.Equipped with modern classrooms and laboratories, the College boasts a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members. These professionals are committed to teaching, research, and extension activities, regularly participating in national and international trainings and workshops. Such experiences continually strengthen their research methodologies, leading to effective teaching outcomes and opening new avenues for the researches aimed at improving quality of life of the community.
Beyond academics, the College is deeply involved in community development initiatives, actively operates through MahilaAddhyan Kendra and GraminMahilaKaushalEvamUdyamitaVikas Kendra, dedicated to the socio-economic empowerment of rural and urban women in the Bundelkhand region.
