Department of Family Resource Management
About the Department:
The Department of Family Resource Management, under the Faculty of Community Science started in the year2019. Family Resource Management is an interdisciplinary field that aims at improving the quality of life of families with focus on the individual, family and community at large. It includes the major field like Interior Design, Space Management, family economics, engineering, ergonomics, consumer education and various aspects of management to prepare students to be effective managers of the family and community,Occupational analyst, Interior designer and Consumer counsellor to a greater extent.The course is both relevant due to the changing needs of human beings with their environment.The department is designed to enable the students to develop professional competence for jobs in the private, public sector and to take up entrepreneurial ventures.
Vision:
- To emerge as a global centre of excellence in teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied sciences in the country to ensure sustained healthy food, nutrition and livelihood security.
Mission:
- The university is committed to the cause of Indian agriculture through its quality teaching, demand-driven and location-specific research and extension programmes in the light of dynamism of socio-economic and agro ecological conditions, management perceptions, international trade scenarios and government policies.
Objectives:
- To facilitate the understanding of family resources for individual growth and family satisfaction.
- To impart skill to assist in resource generation and allocationand knowledge of financial management and consumer education.
- To inculcate awareness about the ergonomic principles in relation to household, equipment and occupation.
- To develop entrepreneurial skill in management among students.

Departmental Activities:
- A Handicraft Exhibition “Abhivyati 2022” and “Abhivyati 2024” were organized on 26.12.2022 by Batch 2019 and on 15.05.2024 by Batch 2020respectively in the Department under Student READY Program (Module Iin which various handmade accessories were made under the course Interior design and decoration and Event Management.
- Two 10 Days Skill Development Workshops were organized from 06.2022 to 13.06.2022 and 01.11.2023 to 10.11.2023 to inculcate the skills of making handmade products and entrepreneurship development among students.
- Various Exposure visits were conducted in different nearby places like Central Jail Restaurant, Bijli Kheda, Banda, Vinova Gramodyog Vikas Sansthan, Banda (U.P.), The Scoff Restaurant under departmental courses for better practical exposure of their curriculum.
- Students Developed Decorative Accessories and Floral decoration (Rangoli) for various University Events like Convocation and Foundation Day.
- Participated in University Kishan Mela every year and demonstrated various Handmade products prepared by students for promoting entrepreneurship Skills among rural women and youth.

- Poonam Vishwakarma (Batch 2020) got admission in M.Sc. in Family Resource Management in CSAUAT, Kanpur.

Interior Design and Decoration Laboratory has been established in the Department of Family Resource Management. The laboratory is catering practical classes and hands on experience in InteriorDecoration by applying principles of design, by selecting colour scheme and preparing various handmade accessories for enhancing the aesthetic view.
